There’s something really special about photographing people you’ve known for a long time! That’s why taking these spring Tunnel View engagement photos felt especially personal for me. Jenn is a childhood friend, so getting to photograph this season of their lives and show her and Hunter around Yosemite honestly felt like such an honor!
We met before sunrise on a chilly April morning, and Yosemite completely showed off for us. The clouds moved through the valley all morning, the light stayed soft, and the whole park had a fresh spring vibe.
Jenn and Hunter were so easygoing and fun to work with from the start. The entire morning felt relaxed and natural, which made it easy for them to settle into the experience and simply enjoy being together.

Starting Their Spring Tunnel View Engagement Session at Sunrise
We began at Tunnel View right before sunrise. Sunrise in Yosemite National Park during spring is incredibly peaceful. The clouds were hanging low in the valley, which made the entire overlook feel extra dramatic.
Jenn and Hunter chose outfits that photographed beautifully against Yosemite’s spring colors! I especially loved the tones they picked because they complemented the landscape perfectly.
Tunnel View always feels iconic, but spring weather can make it feel completely different every time. The clouds kept shifting around El Capitan and Bridalveil Fall while the morning light slowly filtered into the valley.

Exploring Yosemite Valley Together
After Tunnel View, we spent the rest of the morning exploring Yosemite Valley together. One of my favorite parts of engagement sessions in Yosemite is that couples get to experience multiple landscapes within a short drive.
We stopped at Swinging Bridge next. The river reflections and open views of Yosemite Falls looked especially beautiful with the spring runoff! The water levels during April are usually incredible, and the entire valley feels extra alive this time of year.
From there, we made our way through Cook’s Meadow. Spring is one of my favorite seasons for this area because the grass starts turning green again. The soft cloud cover throughout the morning kept the lighting gentle for us the entire time.
Jenn and Hunter made every location feel fun and effortless! Some couples need time to warm up in front of the camera, but these two immediately leaned into the experience together. There were a lot of laughing and quiet little moments in between photos that honestly ended up being some of my favorites from the day.

Valley View and One of My Favorite Hidden Spots
We also stopped at Valley View while the clouds continued moving through the valley. Spring weather in Yosemite can shift quickly, but that’s part of what makes it so beautiful to photograph. The changing skies added so much depth and texture to the landscape throughout the morning!
Before ending their engagement session, I took them to one of my favorite quieter spots in Yosemite. It’s tucked away from the heavier crowds and has a peaceful river view looking toward El Capitan. I love ending sessions here because couples can slow down a bit and simply take in the scenery together.

Why Spring is Such a Great Time for Tunnel View Engagement Photos
Spring in Yosemite National Park is seriously underrated for engagement photos! The waterfalls are usually flowing heavily, the temperatures are comfortable, and the valley feels fresh after winter. You also get fewer crowds compared to peak summer months.
