Featured on Adventure Wed: Amanda & Dennis’ Adventure Elopement in Sequoia National Park

Amanda and Dennis planned an adventure elopement in Sequoia National Park that felt completely true to who they are. They wanted to spend time outdoors, slow down, and enjoy the day together rather than follow a traditional wedding timeline. Their afternoon was laid back and intentional, with coffee, a quiet first look, a ceremony beneath the giant trees, and plenty of time to explore.

Their elopement will also be featured on Adventure Wed, which feels especially fitting for a day that was so centered around adventure and the outdoors.

A Love Story That Started With a Craigslist Ad

Amanda and Dennis’ story started in a pretty unexpected place… a Craigslist personal ad. Dennis was the last person to respond to Amanda’s ad, and one word in particular caught his attention: “integrity.” They went on their first date shortly after Amanda’s birthday, where Dennis surprised her by leaving balloons at her apartment complex. It was a thoughtful gesture that says a lot about the relationship they’ve built.

Their wedding day carried that same sense of intention. They weren’t trying to recreate someone else’s idea of a wedding. They created an experience that reflected the way they actually enjoy spending time together.

A Coffee-Filled First Look at Beetle Rock

We started their afternoon at Beetle Rock for a private first look. Instead of jumping straight into portraits, Amanda and Dennis sat together on the rocks with coffee and took some time to settle into the day. I loved this approach because it immediately set the tone for the rest of their Sequoia National Park elopement. There was no pressure to rush through the first few moments. They could enjoy being together and take in the views before we started exploring.

An Intimate Ceremony Among the Sequoias

Their ceremony took place at the Parker Group, surrounded by the towering trees that make Sequoia so special. The forest was incredibly calm, giving them a beautiful setting for such an intimate part of the day.

After the ceremony, we continued exploring the park and made our way toward the Congress Trail near General Sherman. We stopped along the trail for portraits and took advantage of the different scenery as we walked.

One of my favorite things about photographing in Sequoia is how quickly the landscape changes. You can go from open granite and expansive views to walking beneath some of the largest trees on earth. It gives an adventure elopement so much variety without needing to overcomplicate the day.

Details That Felt Like Amanda & Dennis

The details throughout their elopement were just as personal as the experience itself. Amanda and Dennis incorporated bottle green and burnt orange into their wedding day, along with details inspired by their love of national parks and design. They carried wedding backpacks, brought along a custom national park-style sign, and even had coffee mugs featuring their couple logo.

Planning Your Own Adventure Elopement in Sequoia National Park

Amanda and Dennis are a great example of why I encourage couples to build their elopement around the things they actually love. You don’t need a packed timeline to have an incredible wedding day. Sometimes the best parts are sitting together with coffee, taking your time on a trail, or stopping when you find a spot you love.

As a Sequoia elopement photographer, I help couples plan days that fit their priorities while still making the most of the park. I can help with location ideas, timeline planning, permits, and all the little logistics that make an adventure elopement feel easy.

If you’re planning a Sequoia National Park elopement and want your wedding day to feel relaxed, personal, and rooted in the outdoors, I’d love to help you plan it. Reach out to start planning your Sequoia adventure, or explore more of my elopement photography for inspiration.
