Determine Your Preferred Photography Style:

There are several different photography styles out there, and no two photographers are the same. It’s so important to explore and choose a style that best suits you and your partner. Remember that these are your wedding photos and you will have them to cherish forever, so it’s important to choose a style that best fits you. This will also help you to narrow down your search for photographers who specialize in that style! Let’s get into a few popular photography styles to consider.

Traditional Wedding Photography: Typically includes portraits of the couple, family, and the wedding party, as well as the ceremony and reception. Classic poses are done in traditional wedding photography, along with formal attire.

Photojournalistic Wedding Photography: Capturing your wedding in a more documentary-style approach. This captures the emotions, interactions, and overall atmosphere of the day in a more candid way. Instead of staging and posing the bride and groom and wedding party for traditional photos, the photographer documents the day as it unfolds. By doing this, the couple can enjoy their day without worrying about being photographed! The photographer can also capture more genuine moments and emotions on your wedding day

Fine Art Wedding Photography: A style of wedding photography that focuses on creative composition and lighting. It captures the beauty and emotion of the wedding day in an elegant and timeless manner. It creates stunning, unique works of art, emphasizing the beauty of the couple and the details of their wedding day.

Do Your Research On The Photographer:

It is SO important to do your research on the photographers you’re considering! Browse their online portfolios, read their Google reviews, check out their social media profiles like Instagram or Facebook, or even their Wedding Wire or The Knot profiles! Ask friends and family if they have an experience with the photographer. It’s also important to find a photographer with a strong online presence and positive testimonials from clients. Unfortunately, there are photographers out there who also steal others’ work and frame it as their own. It causes disaster when clients realize that the photographer isn’t who they claim to be, and they don’t receive the photos they paid for. Don’t let this happen to you!

Set a Budget and Compare Packages:

It’s also crucial that you discuss and set a budget for wedding photography and discuss this with your partner. Research and compare packages offered by different photographers. Schedule Interviews or Consultations With Fresno Wedding Photographers:

Meeting with potential photographers in person or through video calls can help you to get a sense of their personalities and communication styles. It’s not only important that you hire a photographer who fits your photography style, but that you hire someone who vibes and meshes well with you and your partner! There are essential questions you should be asking during your consultations. For example, the photographer’s availability, experience, backup plans, and turnaround time for photos. See my “10 Essential Questions To Ask Photographers For Weddings & Elopements” guide for detailed explanations of the 10 questions you need to be asking before hiring your wedding photographer!

Check for Compatibility and Communication Skills:

Hiring a photographer who is easy to work with and has excellent communication skills is a must. Planning a wedding can already be stressful, and you don’t need to add more stress to your day by working with someone who is hard to work with and/or has poor communication skills. It’s important that you feel comfortable with the photographer and that you trust them to capture your special day. I highly suggest that you ask for references from their past clients to get an idea of the photographer’s professionalism and client satisfaction! And of course, you can always get an idea of this by checking their Google reviews as well!
