The Benefits of an Eloping vs Wedding

Intimacy – Elopements offer an intimate experience with just the two of you or a few close loved ones. It’s a time to focus on your love and commitment without the hustle and bustle of a big event. If you’ve been dreaming of a romantic ceremony with just you and your partner, or with just the closest friends and family, an elopement is right up your alley!

Budget-friendly – Elopements are often more cost-effective, as you can save on venue fees, catering, and other expenses associated with a larger wedding. You can also put more towards what means more to you. Whether that’s your wedding photography, traveling to your dream location, or even your dress! Eloping can be a much cheaper option than hosting 200+ guests at a traditional venue.

Flexibility – With fewer logistics to manage, elopements give you the freedom to choose any location! Be it on a mountaintop, a city hall, or a far-off destination like Mexico or the Bahamas, the choice is yours!

Less stress – Elopements often involve less planning and fewer details, giving you a more relaxed and enjoyable experience. Dislike planning large events? No worries! Typically, elopements involve just the couple, the officiant, and maybe a few close friends and family. This means that you don’t have to worry about catering, decorations, or other details of a traditional wedding. This can greatly reduce stress and make the day even more special and memorable for you because you’ll really be in the moment!

The Cons of Choosing an Elopement

Limited guest list: Elopements usually involve a smaller guest list, which means some friends and family might not be present to witness your special moment. If having all of your friends and family present is important to you, then eloping isn’t an ideal choice.

Less tradition: If you’re a fan of traditional wedding elements like a big reception or wedding ceremony, an elopement may not fulfill all of your dreams.

Potential regrets: Some couples may later wish they had a larger celebration with friends and family. Choosing to elope is a big decision, and it isn’t something you should take lightly!

The Benefits of a Wedding vs Elopement

Celebrating with loved ones: A traditional wedding allows you to share your joy and love with a larger group of friends and family. Your wedding can be as large or small as you want it. Even if you don’t want to have a huge celebration but don’t want to elope with only a few, maybe you could consider a micro wedding!

Time-honored traditions: Weddings give you the opportunity to incorporate meaningful customs and rituals that represent your unique love story. Whether that’s unique to you or family-held traditions.

More memories: A bigger event can create more memories to cherish, like dancing the night away with friends or sharing heartfelt speeches, and getting photos with family who may live farther away!

Professional support: With a larger wedding, you’ll likely have a team of vendors and professionals to help bring your vision to life. This can greatly reduce your stress with planning!

Cons of Choosing a Wedding vs Elopement

Cost: Weddings can be expensive, with costs for venues, catering, attire, and more adding up quickly. Sometimes you can’t do everything you want for your wedding day because of the cost.

Planning stress: Planning a wedding involves many details, which can be overwhelming and time-consuming. If you aren’t a planner and don’t think you need a big celebration, then consider eloping instead!

Less flexibility: Larger weddings may require more rigid timelines and set locations, limiting your options. This means that the wedding might have to be planned around what’s available instead of your wedding vision.
