As a Yosemite wedding photographer, I get to see so many different versions of what a wedding day can look like, and this Bridalveil Fall wedding was the perfect mix of relaxed and intentional. With just 25 of their closest family members, Danielle and Jeff created a day that felt personal from start to finish, with a beautiful waterfall backdrop and time built in to actually enjoy each part of the experience.
Early March in Yosemite can feel a little unpredictable, but that’s also what makes it so special. Waterfalls are flowing, the light is soft, and the park feels quieter than peak season. It created the perfect setting for a private wedding that focused on connection.

Danielle & Jeff’s Story and Vision
Danielle and Jeff’s families had known each other for a while, but they officially met at a baby shower that Danielle was hosting. Jeff stood out right away because of his outgoing and funny personality. Danielle caught his eye too, with her bright red hair and green jumpsuit. They didn’t talk much that day, but things picked up afterward, and the connection grew from there.
When it came to planning their wedding, they wanted something simple, beautiful, and relaxed. The goal was to keep the focus on their relationship while still including their closest family. They knew they wanted an amazing view, a meaningful ceremony officiated by Danielle’s cousin, and a mix of both candid and romantic photos throughout the day.
They also planned to celebrate with a larger group later on in a few years, which made this day feel even more intentional. It was about starting this new chapter in a way that felt true to them, without the pressure of a big traditional wedding.

Their Bridalveil Fall Wedding Day Timeline
I worked closely with Danielle to plan a day that balanced private moments, scenic locations, and time with family, while still feeling relaxed and easy from start to finish.
12:00 PM – Pickup at Tenaya Lodge
We started the day with me picking Danielle up at Tenaya Lodge, where both Danielle and Jeff had both gotten ready separately.
1:00 PM – First Look & Private Vows at Tunnel View
They met for their first look at Tunnel View, followed by private vows. This gave them a quiet moment together before the rest of the day.
1:45 PM – Photos at Swinging Bridge Picnic Area
We headed into the valley and spent time at Swinging Bridge, which offered open views and a relaxed setting to ease into the day.
2:30 PM – Yosemite Chapel & Cook’s Meadow
Next, we stopped at the Yosemite Chapel and Cook’s Meadow. This part of the day gave us a mix of classic Yosemite backdrops with both trees and waterfalls.
3:45 PM – Arrive at Bridalveil Fall
Guests arrived and settled in before the ceremony began.
4:00 PM – Ceremony at Bridalveil Fall
Their ceremony was short, meaningful, and surrounded by family. Having Danielle’s cousin officiate made it even more personal.
4:15 PM – Family Photos
We moved right into group photos with their full guest list.
4:40 PM – Immediate Family Photos
We carved out extra time for smaller groupings to make sure everyone had a moment with them.
5:00–5:30 PM – Wrap Up Photography
We finished up in time for their dinner plans later that evening, without ever feeling rushed.

Planning Around Weather, Timing, and Logistics
One of the biggest concerns Danielle had going into this day was the weather. March in Yosemite can bring snow, rain, or clear skies, sometimes all in the same day. Instead of trying to control that, we built flexibility into the plan from the beginning. You can read more Yosemite weather tips in my guide, called Yosemite Elopement Weather: What Happens if it Changes?, on the blog.
For their first look and vows at Tunnel View, we talked through backup options in case conditions changed. Even small adjustments, like shifting where we stand or how we approach a location, can make a big difference. They were also prepared with proper footwear and layers, which made everything feel easier and more comfortable.
Another important piece was working around their dinner reservation later that evening. Having a set end time can feel stressful if the timeline is too tight, but we planned their day so everything flowed naturally. There was enough time at each location without needing to rush from place to place.
For couples who are not familiar with Yosemite, choosing locations can feel overwhelming. That’s where I step in! Based on their vision of wanting waterfalls, trees, and a mix of iconic and quieter spots, I guided them through location options that made sense logistically and visually. It ended up being a day that felt cohesive and easy to move through, even with multiple stops and a group of 25 people.

Client Testimonial
I cannot say enough great things about Alyssa! We have been working with her for 3 years now. We first worked with her for our family photos during her blossom mini sessions. After that, we loved her work so much that we decided to have her photograph our Yosemite elopement. She made the process so easy and helped out so much in the planning of it all. I wanted a stress free experience and she made it exactly what we wanted and more. From the planning of the timeline and shooting locations to helping submit for permits. The whole day of shooting was so fun and she always goes out of her way to make everyone feel comfortable. The photos always turn out so amazing! Also, her turnaround time for the photos is quick as well. I definitely recommend Alyssa to anyone and everyone! We can’t wait for our next session with her.
