With epic views of Half Dome, El Capitan, and Yosemite Falls, it’s perfect for couples wanting to be surrounded by the park’s most iconic landmarks. Plus, it’s super accessible year-round, and you don’t have to hike to get to the view! Just keep in mind, it’s a pretty popular spot, so it might get a little crowded. But for a small, intimate elopement (11 guests max), this place is ideal.
Yosemite Valley Chapel – Best For A Classic Ceremony With A View
The Yosemite Chapel offers a timeless, intimate setting for couples dreaming of a traditional feel to their ceremony in the heart of the valley. Surrounded by towering pines and framed by stunning views of Yosemite Falls, it’s a year-round chapel that transforms beautifully with the seasons—from snow-dusted serenity in winter to golden light filtering through summer trees. The interior features warm wood accents and soft natural light, creating a cozy, romantic atmosphere. While it provides shelter from unpredictable weather and full privacy for your vows, it’s important to note that the chapel must be reserved in advance through a separate rental process, and ceremonies are limited to inside the chapel only.
Swinging Bridge – Best for Fewer Crowds & River Views
If you’re looking for a quieter, more private spot, Swinging Bridge might be just what you’re after. It is by the Merced River, and it gives you gorgeous views of Yosemite’s towering granite cliffs! It’s also way less crowded than other spots, so you can have a peaceful ceremony with the sound of water flowing nearby. It’s best to visit from late spring to fall when the weather’s perfect for an outdoor elopement. Just keep in mind that ceremonies have a guest capacity of 20 people and ceremonies can’t happen directly on the bridge. Parking can be a bit limited so carpooling is recommended! Also, it’s closed during holiday weekends, so make sure to plan ahead!
El Capitan Meadow – Best for an Iconic & Stunning Setting
If you’re after an icon setting, El Capitan Meadow might just be the spot for you. It has one of the best views in the park of El Captain! It’s perfect for if you are looking to have meadow ceremonies with a small guest list of up to 11 people. While there aren’t restrooms nearby, the peaceful atmosphere and the surrounding towering cliffs make it totally worth it. Just remember to plan ahead for any necessities your guests might need!
Cathedral Beach – Best for Riverside Elopements
If you’re dreaming of eloping by the water, Cathedral Beach is the perfect spot. It is by the Merced River, it offers a chill vibe with El Capitan towering above. It’s great for couples who want a riverside ceremony and a bit more room for guests! You can have up to 50 people (though if you’re over 35, monitoring is required). The best time to visit is in summer or fall when the river is calm and the golden hour light is absolutely magical. While it can still get busy during peak season, it gives you more space and that stunning view, making it a top choice for a riverside elopement.
Cascades Picnic Area – Best for a Picnic-Style Elopement
If you’re after a more laid-back vibe, the Cascades Picnic Area could be just what you’re looking for. With picnic tables and a gorgeous setting near the Cascades viewing area, it’s perfect for a unique, picnic-style elopement. It fits up to 30 people and is available from spring through fall. Just keep in mind that parking is limited (only 8 vehicles allowed), so carpooling is a great idea to make sure everyone can get there!
Tunnel View – Best for Panoramic Yosemite Valley Views
Tunnel View is easily one of the most iconic and awe-inspiring ceremony spots in all of Yosemite. With sweeping views of El Capitan, Half Dome, and Bridalveil Fall all in one frame, it’s a jaw-dropping location for couples who want a true “wow” backdrop. The site is ideal for small elopements or micro weddings. Sunrise and sunset are especially magical here! Especially with golden light pouring over the valley and soft mist rising in the distance. While the view is unmatched, privacy can be limited. Tunnel View is one of the park’s most visited viewpoints, and you’re likely to have some onlookers. Still, if you’re craving that classic Yosemite vista, it doesn’t get better than this. A special use permit is required! And, ceremonies must be coordinated carefully to avoid peak traffic times.
Sentinel Beach Picnic Area – Best for Larger Gatherings
For those who envision a larger celebration with up to 100 guests, the Sentinel Beach Picnic Area is the ideal spot. This area offers plenty of space while still providing the natural beauty Yosemite is known for. The location is available from Memorial Day through October 31st, so it’s great for summer and fall elopements. However, be aware that parking is limited, and this location is closed during the winter and early spring months.
Yosemite Falls – Best for Iconic Waterfall Views
If you’re after that iconic Yosemite experience, Yosemite Falls is the place to be. The stunning backdrop of the waterfall, combined with easy access from Yosemite Valley Lodge, makes it one of the most popular spots in the park. The best time to visit is during the spring when the waterfall is at its peak! Or, in the fall when there are fewer crowds and the lighting is perfect for photos. However, because it’s a popular location, it’s best to elope early in the morning to avoid the crowds. Keep in mind that ceremonies are not allowed directly at the base of the falls or on Yosemite Creek Bridge, but the views here still make it a fantastic spot for your elopement!
Bridalveil Falls – Best For A Forested Setting With A Waterfall
Bridalveil Fall offers a dreamy forested ceremony location with the dramatic backdrop of a 620-foot waterfall. It’s one of the few spots in Yosemite Valley that can accommodate up to 50 guests, making it ideal for slightly larger elopements. The best time to hold a ceremony here is in spring or early summer, when the falls are at their most powerful and the surrounding forest feels lush and alive. The setting is undeniably magical, with towering trees, moss-covered rocks, and the soothing sound of rushing water. However, the mist from the falls can make nearby paths slick, so couples and guests should wear sturdy shoes. It’s also worth noting that ceremonies must be held beyond the second stone bridge and not directly in front of the waterfall, per permit regulations.
