Tips for Planning a Stress-Free Yosemite Elopement
Permits
Yosemite requires a wedding permit, so make sure to secure it in advance! I recommend at least a few months in advance to avoid any last minute issues! Go here to read more about how to get a permit, and fill out the application here: https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/weddings.htm Once you fill it out, it’s a $150 cost to save your date. For wedding permit information contact Catherine by email or by phone 209-379-1858!
Best Season to Elope in Yosemite
Spring and fall are ideal seasons to elope in Yosemite, offering a perfect balance by avoiding the summer crowds and winter cold and snow. However, the best time for your elopement is ultimately up to you and your partner’s preferences. Some couples adore the winter landscape with snow covered mountains in Yosemite. Additionally, sunrise elopements on weekdays can offer a more intimate experience with fewer visitors. Once you’ve chosen your elopement spot, keep in mind that the season can affect sunrise and sunset times, as well as how the sunlight illuminates your chosen elopement location. I can assist you in determining the best time to elope based on your specific spot, ensuring you capture the perfect lighting on your special day!
Transportation
Plan your transportation within the park! It is important to have a timeline and know where you are going to be! As your Yosemite elopement photographer, I’d be able to assist you with this! Additionally, Yosemite can be crowded, and parking is limited, so consider using the park shuttle service or carpooling with your guests!
Packing Essentials
Bring layers to accommodate Yosemite’s varying temperatures. Early mornings and evenings can be chilly, even in summer. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes suitable for hiking and uneven terrain! As well, bring a backpack, with snacks, water, and shoes. Especially for an all day adventurous elopements! Consider bringing a pair of elegant shoes for your ceremony and photos to switch in and out of. Don’t forget to pack an emergency kit that includes items like band-aids, a small sewing kit, and any personal medications.
Working with Vendors
Hire local vendors who are familiar with the park! You can check out my vendor recommendations on my How to Elope in Yosemite National Park! You’ll find recommendations for an officiant, video, makeup, cake, florist, places to stay and more! Due to limited cell service in Yosemite, establish a detailed plan and communicate any last minute changes well in advance!
