The Toth family is an adventurous family that loves exploring national parks as a family. Their goal is to visit as many national parks as possible together and make tons of memories along the way! For this trip, they decided on Yosemite National Park and chose me as their photographer for their documentary style family photos. Keep scrolling to see more of the Toth’s family photos!

Throughout this session, I emphasized capturing the raw and authentic moments. When you have small children, capturing their playful spirits is a must through documentary style photography. For this session we chose a route that included some of the most scenic spots, ensuring we could capture the stunning backdrop of the park. We started the session right before sunrise, just in time to see the beautiful sunrise and for them to witness a beautiful moment together as a family. I also captured some romantic couple photos as the sun started rise! After watching the sunrise, they headed through the forest and towards the meadow where they had a picnic! The children played in the meadow, sharing so many heartwarming moments with their parents! I made sure to capture all of these natural moments. My goal is for this family to look back at these photos in 20 years and relive the emotions they felt while exploring Yosemite National Park.

What is Documentary Style Photography?

Documentary style is a photography approach that tells a story. Unlike traditional photography, I focus on the candid, natural, and unposed moments. During this session, it was all about capturing the genuine emotions and interactions. Throughout this blog, you’ll see these moments, such as the children playing and the family walking into the meadow. You’ll also see how the photos tell a story throughout the blog!

Our family photo session at Yosemite with Alyssa was a dream! We were newbies to the park and she guided us through all of the best locations and timed our sunrise shoot perfectly. She was able to capture beautiful photos, even with our kids’ silly faces/poses and aversions to wet grass.
