Essential Documents

Marriage License: You’ll need a California Marriage License (about $60) and an officiant to make things official. Be sure to get these sorted ahead of time, especially if you’re coming in from out of state! Fun fact! I can also officiate your elopement! 

Elopement Permit: A special use permit is required for any elopement ceremony held within Yosemite National Park! Having this permit ensures your ceremony goes smoothly while preserving the park’s natural beauty. The permit is $150 and is non-refundable. Wedding Attire & Accessories

Dress & Suit: When choosing a dress or suit, choose something that is comfortable to move around in. Especially if you are going to explore Yosemite! Bring a jacket or a shawl especially in the chillier months!

Comfortable Shoes: A big must have are comfortable shoes! For your ceremony wear whatever you’d like and then change into comfortable shoes for the rest of the day! 

Accessories: Remember to pack rings, veils, ties, cufflinks, jewelry, and other accessories that complete your wedding look. 

Personal Items

Vows: I always encourage my couples to bring their written vows with them. Consider storing them in a beautiful vow book or printing them on sturdy paper. Not only does this make them a keepsake, but it also adds a special touch to your photos.

Touch-Up Kit: I recommend packing a small touch-up kit with essentials like hairspray, lipstick, a mirror, and some hairpins. It’s a quick and easy way to ensure you stay picture perfect throughout the day without any stress.

Snacks & Water: Staying hydrated and energized is so important, especially during longer elopements. I suggest bringing snacks and a reusable water bottle to keep you hydrated throughout the day!

Outdoor Essentials

Sun Protection: It is important to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and maybe even a hat, especially for midday ceremonies. Staying protected from the sun will keep you comfortable and looking your best.

Bug Spray: I always recommend packing some insect repellent. It’s a small step that makes a big difference in keeping those bugs away and letting you focus on the moment! 

Weather Protection: Weather can be unpredictable, so I suggest bringing items like umbrellas, windbreakers, and raincoats just in case. It’s always better to be prepared!

First Aid Kit: A small first aid kit with essentials like band-aids, pain relievers, and blister pads is always a good idea. It’s one of those things you hope you won’t need, but you’ll be glad to have it just in case!

Photography & Keepsakes: 

Polaroid or Instant Camera: I always think it’s fun to bring along a polaroid or instant camera! Capturing a few instant photos right then and there is so fun and allows you to have printed photos for memories.

Personal Mementos: If you have any special keepsakes, like heirloom jewelry or a meaningful letter, I definitely suggest packing them. Including personal mementos in your photos makes the memories even more sentimental. 

Bluetooth Speaker: I recommend bringing a portable Bluetooth speaker to play your favorite songs during the ceremony or even during your first dance. It can really help set the mood and make the experience feel even more personal!

Adventure Gear:

Backpack: I recommend bringing a sturdy, comfortable backpack to carry all your essentials! Snacks, water, extra clothing, and anything else you might need throughout the day. It keeps everything organized and easy to access.

Headlamp or Flashlight: If we’re heading out for an early morning or evening hike, I suggest packing a headlamp or flashlight. It’s super helpful when we’re navigating in low light and ensures we stay safe.

Picnic Blanket: A cozy picnic blanket is always a good idea! Whether you want to take a break, enjoy a meal, or capture some photos! 

Packing Tips: 

Organize by Category: I always recommend organizing your items into categories, like wedding attire, outdoor essentials, or personal keepsakes. Packing cubes can be a lifesaver for keeping everything in order and easy to find.

Double Check the Checklist: Before heading out, I encourage you to double check your checklist. It’s the best way to make sure you don’t forget any essentials! Especially important documents or personal items you’ll need throughout the day.

Plan for the Unexpected: I always suggest packing a few extra items just in case. You never know when the weather might change or something unexpected happens, and it’s better to be prepared for any surprises.
