Congratulations on your pregnancy! In this article, you will learn all the ways to prepare for your maternity photoshoot. As you prepare for this exciting occasion, it is likely that there will be many things to do. Having a professional maternity session may seem like just another item on your list but hear me out, a photo shoot can help remind you how beautiful pregnancy has made you. You deserve nothing less than perfection during such an important time; take advantage by scheduling some photos now before Baby arrives.
Along with the changes that come along during pregnancy, there are some other things you’ll want to know about before your session. This guide will explain how to get amazing images during your maternity photoshoot!
Schedule Your Maternity Photoshoot Early
Don’t wait until the last minute to schedule your maternity session. You’ll want plenty of time to prepare, select a date and time that works for both you and the photographer, and to find outfits that will showcase your bump in the best light. Sessions typically book up quickly, so don’t miss your chance! Most mamas will schedule the session around 20 weeks when they have found out the gender and I like to take maternity photos between 32-35 weeks pregnant.
Talk to your photographer about the vibe you want for your maternity shoot
- Discuss what you want your final product to look like, talk about the overall feel or vibe you’re going for.
- Do you want the shoot to be indoors or outdoors?
- Give some specific examples of poses or shots you’d like.
- Make a pinterest board to show your photographer.
- Make a list of any props you might need.
Pamper Yourself with professional services
Have your hair and makeup done professionally. I can’t stress enough how much more confident you will feel if you do. Make sure to get plenty of rest the night before so you can be refreshed and you can better prepare for your maternity photoshoot the next day.
Outfit Choices
Whether you want to keep it casual with jeans and a blouse or wear a flowing maternity dress, or even both, take time before your session to choose your outfits and make sure they fit and look the way you want them to look. You should also pick out clothing for any other family members who will be part of the session and make sure to choose outfits that coordinate and don’t clash with your own. By taking a little extra time to plan your outfit, you’ll ensure that your maternity photos are everything you’ve dreamed of.
Some of my favorite places to shop for maternity outfits are: Amazon, Baltic Born, Free People, Jen’s Pirate Booty, Reformation, and Vici
Dont Stress!
Your photographer will walk you through every pose and position. All that’s left for you to do is be your natural, beautiful self!
