Eloping in Yosemite National Park is actually easier than you may think. To get married in Yosemite National Park, you’ll need a special use permit. Thus permit costs $150.
Once you fill out the permit, you must chose a location from the ceremony location list. You’ll want to specify your ceremony location on the application. Here is the link to the application!
Once your application is reviewed, you can expect your special use permit to come in the mail. You will then need to return it to their office. You can see more in depth on wedding and commitment ceremonies inside of Yosemite National Park on their official website!
Yosemite Wedding Ceremony Locations
Choosing which location to have your elope in Yosemite at is probably the most difficult task. There are SO MANY beautiful locations inside of Yosemite National Park to choose from. Here are the approved Yosemite ceremony locations to consider for your Yosemite elopement.
Yosemite Valley Locations
Cascades Picnic Area, Lower Yosemite Fall Paved Trail, Swinging Bridge Picnic Area, Cathedral Beach Picnic Area, Sentinel Beach Picnic Area, and Bridalveil Fall.
Glacier Point and Wawona Locations
Glacier Point Amphitheater and Chilnualna Falls Trailhead Parking Lot.
Tuolumne Meadows Locations
Tenaya Lake Beach and Tuolumne Meadows Lodge Area.
Big Oak Flat Area
Tuolumne Grove and Merced Grove.

Things to Consider When Choosing Your Yosemite Ceremony Location
-Ceremony locations are first-come first-serve. They can only be used for a two hour max.
-Once your application and payment is received, Yosemite’s Special Park Uses permit program manager will contact via email within two to seven business days. If the location you requested has already been booked, you will be contacted to choose a different or preferred date.
-Yosemite National Park will not issue wedding permits on holiday weekends or holidays.
-They do not allow pets to attend wedding ceremonies.
-Timeframes before 10am are recommended due to park visitors.
-You can’t throw bird seed, rice, or flower petals.
-You cannot use decorations or drones.
What to Wear When Eloping in Yosemite National Park?
When it comes to eloping in Yosemite National Park, it’s important to be prepared at all times. Weather can be unpredictable, even in the more favorable months. Here are some tips on what to wear for both a groom and a bride:
Groom: Dress comfortably and in attire that allows you to move without being too constricted. You can still wear a suit, but make sure you’re comfortable. I recommend dressing in or bringing layers. Hiking boots are a must!
Bride: Depending on the season, a lightweight dress would be your best bet. Bringing other layers that you can add and take off as needed is a great idea. Hiking boots are a great idea, and many times the length of your dress will cover it in your photos anyway!
